  Background

What brought my family to North Carolina and in particular, Johnston County, was the opportunity to raise my kids in a family-friendly evnrionment. Both my wife and I are Southern Baptists and the whole family attends Cleveland Community Church.

This coming December 2006, my wife, Kristen, and I are celebrating 10 years of marriage. We love each other very much. We have two beautiful children: Lily, who is 2 years old, and Trey, who is 4 yrs old.

I have been a personal fitness trainer since 1993 and have owned my own fitness training business since 1995.

In August 2003, my family and I moved to Johnston County and I opened up Woodall’s Fitness Training East Coast. My business in Las Vegas was unique. I traveled to client homes and offices to perform the fitness training. Once I moved to North Carolina, I did the same thing. Unfortunately the distances involved in the Raleigh area ended up being greater than in Las Vegas. My wife and I prayed on what to do and I decided to create a unique fitness experience.

Woodall’s Fitness Studio was born. I let the good Lord lead my decision making in deciding to create this studio. In all my years of training, both in Las Vegas and here in Johnston County, I used my business as a witness to both my clients and to their families. I play Christian music at the studio, keep my Bible visible and handy, and invite clients and guest to church if they don’t already have a church home. I listen to my clients, and pray with them whenever I feel I may be of assistance in providing personal and spiritual support.

I am extremely grateful for the generosity, hospitality and the fellowship afforded me by my new Johnston County neighbors. In trying to return this generosity to the community, I started as a volunteer with the Thanksgiving Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD). I was voted in as a member of the fire department in January 2005. It has been an incredible experience and very rewarding. Chief Jimmy Smith and Asst. Chief Gary House have really taken me under their respective wings. The training provided for the firemen is great! With my background in fitness and associated training and certifications, I am also a Medical Responder for Thanksgiving Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

My first real fire was the fire in Clayton at the CCC Company on old Hwy 70 in late August 15, 2005. We had over 100 firemen on the scene and TVFD was the third department on scene for that fire. It was exciting and frightening at the same time. The comprehensive training that we do really kicks in. All the men on the scene of that fire from TVFD really went out of their way to make sure I was ready for my first real fire.

All the men on the fire dept I trust with my life and the life of my family . We are all good Christian men and are witnesses for Christ in our daily lives. We open all our department meetings with a word of prayer and a devotional. I feel very fortunate to be a member of this particular fire department. I am still considered a rookie - but no one treats me like one.

All of the members of the TVFD are volunteers. We receive no payment for what we do. I want everyone to understand this point - I am incredibly proud of what every single volunteer alongside me, and what we as a group, gives back to the community. It takes special people to respond to an emergency when all others are running way from the emergency or fire. I love and respect every single one of my firemen brothers.
